Xerox’s Ivy McKinney works long and hard on mentoring, diversity efforts

By JOAN LEE

Ivy Thomas McKinney is at the point of her life where her children are grown up and have moved out of the house. Her daughter is a junior at Princeton and her son is in a doctorate program at Yale.

“All of my free time went to family when I was young,” said McKinney, a 1980 Yale Law School graduate who is vice president and deputy general counsel at Xerox Corp. Now that her children are on their own, she’s embarked on an impressive array of public service, mentoring and pro bono work. She says it’s her way of giving back. “Along the way, I’ve had a lot of people who supported and helped me,” she explained.

So, thank you for your time, donations, and effort by participating in Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Many of you participated in selling Women of Color Pins or locally sponsored events such as the Witness Project (Girlfriend’s Brigade) or the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. BWLC was able to raise $5,260 from the Breast Care Awareness Pin Fundraiser and Volunteer Breast Cancer Walk!

Take some time and view new faces and familiar faces in the photos from local chapter activities across the BWLC constituency on our website (www.bwlc.com)!

Our plan is to participate in Breast Care Awareness Month next year. So please share your thoughts and ideas on ways we can increase the fun and boost participation.
Thank you for making a difference, making BWLC history, and raising awareness about Breast Cancer!

Thank You,
Alicia
