BWLC Foundation History

The Black Women’s Leadership Council Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to provide scholarships to young black females to further their academic training and to achieve a dream of pursuing their passion as well as be able to contribute in a global community.

The Foundation was created by the Black Women’s Leadership Council.   This council of dedicated professionals, from Xerox Corporation, created this foundation to help aid in the development and growth of young Black women.

The BWLC Foundation has been hard at work since 2000, raising funds to support young African American females from all over the country who will be attending a college or a university. Since the year of the BWLC Foundation’s inception, 135 recipients have benefited from a portion of the $130,000 raised on behalf of the Scholarship Fund.

BWLC Foundation President’s Message

The Black Women’s Leadership Council Foundation was established to help make “Dreams Come True”, one student at a time.   During this very difficult time, as I think about the Covid-19 pandemic and the health disparities faced by people of color, and the current racial crisis that our country is enduring, I am even more determined to continue the work of the BWLC Foundation.   We must continue to support the future African American women who will be the leaders of tomorrow as they seek to further their educational pursuits.   But one thing is evident,  we cannot do that without your support.

The educational system is one of the many areas where racial injustice has plagued the United States of America.   Racial profiling and funding inequalities start in elementary school and continues through our collegiate system.   It is this foundation’s purpose to assist those young African American women who persevere and are accepted to college by providing a measure of financial support.   Thank you in advance for doing what you can to make a tangible investment in the education of the next generation.
